Good morning,Two kayakers are safe after a Sunday afternoon trip turned into a rescue operation on French Creek. First responders say the Mercer County residents became separated south of Cochranton when one woman capsized and became stranded on an island. Her partner tried to paddle back upstream against the current to find her. Fire Chief Scott Schell says both women were exhausted but uninjured when rescue crews brought them to safety.Meanwhile, a total ban on student cell phones in Pennsylvania classrooms is one step closer to reality. The state House passed House Bill 1814 on Monday, sending the restriction to the Senate. If approved, the bill would ban smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches in all schools.
