Good morning.Hornell police arrested twenty-five-year-old John Holiday on Canisteo Street after he allegedly set a vehicle on fire near a local building. Investigators report that when a firefighter arrived to extinguish the flames, Holiday threatened him with a knife. Officers de-escalated a brief standoff, and Holiday now faces felony counts of arson and reckless endangerment.Meanwhile, a seven-point-five million dollar project has officially opened the new Sentry Bridge at Watkins Glen State Park. Built from durable stainless steel to withstand the elements, the new structure fully restores visitor access to the park's iconic nineteen waterfalls ahead of the holiday weekend.And local organizations are helping residents handle the dangerous heat wave. The Hornell VFW Post has opened its headquarters as an air-conditioned public cooling center with cold water and snacks.
